"What do you mean our relationship technically started in a time-dilated alternate reality fragment and you never told me?" Illyana's voice shrieked throughout the Sanctum, causing all three of her Magic Parents to sit up and take notice.

...

"--I get wanting to find out who you are outside of people's expectations. You know that."

...

"...Leah. LEAH."

"Thori hush, you aren't helping."

...

"It wouldn't 'be unfair' to me. Road trip all you want. There is no such thing as a long-distance relationship between two people who can teleport at whim."

...

"--do you get that to me we have been dating for two years?"

...

"I have never tried to replace your original Illyana, that's a fucking shitty thing to say, Leah."

"Yeah, well, trying to dump me via portal facetime is also SUPER SHITTY."

...

"You want to know the truth about your nature? You want me to love you enough to 'let you go?'" Illyana's voice turned sickly sweet, and Wong turned to head for the front door, Strange not far behind him as Clea waived him off, because the next few hours were perhaps about to be between a Warlord and her heartbroken daughter-of-the-heart.

"You are a coward, Leah of Hel. NO. No -- it's my turn to talk. You are afraid that loving me means betraying your original Illyana. You want me to 'love you enough to let you go,' when I love you enough to fight, because that is my nature, and deep down, you know it's yours too."

"I didn't make you 'better' or 'more than you were meant to be,' because you're fucking unlimited you idiot. I never saw you as 'just' a handmaiden, or whatever. But you're so fucking afraid of yourself, of what you could be, that you'd do-- this! I don't care about Hel, or Hela, or Asgard, or Battleworld. I love you. And if anyone is going to understand what it is to fear what you are and who you might become, it's me, but we can do it together."

...

"Well, now I know where I stand. You defied a god-emperor Doom for one Yana, but you won't stick around for me? Fuck you."

The slamming door and sound of Illyana taking the steps two at a time drew Clea from her seat in the library, to meet her daughter at the base of the foyer staircase. Illyana already trying to wipe away any evidence of tears with her sleeve.

"She dumped me."

"I surmised." Clea regarded Illyana calmly. "Do I need to duel her for your honor? I will teach her what it means to insult a daughter of the Faltine."

"No." Illyana drummed her fingers on the bannister, looking around. "--do we still have those recruitment brochures for Fandom University laying around? The ones that came in the mail last week?"

That was... not what Clea had been expecting. "Yes, beloved, I think so."

"I -- I don't think I want to be here right now." Illyana admitted. "I mean, not here-here, but..."

"The city is now filled with ghosts, and they are too fresh for you." Clea waved a hand, and papers came floating into the room, summoned from wherever they had been discarded. "--especially since your now-former paramour literally lived a few blocks down from us with her lady mothers."

"I do not think the application deadline has passed yet. And if it has, they will change their minds for you." Or she would change it for them. "--but are you sure you would rather not attend NYU to get your mind off things? I know Stephen and Wong are glad to have you home, and your apprenticeship is so important to all of you."

"She was at NYU." And even though clearly she wasn't going to be anymore, Illyana didn't really want to be anywhere that Leah of Hel had been in recent memory.

"Mmmm," Clea agreed, gesturing to send the promotional materials to float in front of Illyana. "Take those, go do what you must on the computer. I will let Stephen and Wong know to go to the Brooklyn IKEA and get things a college student needs."

"Don't let them go there unattended," Illyana sighed, snatching the floating papers out of the air. "You know what happened last time. Send them to get take-out instead?"

"Take-out it is," Clea agreed, taking out her Starkphone to text them. "--and once you are done with your application, we will go blow things up in Limbo after dinner."

"Yeah. That sounds good, thanks." Yana looked at the brochures in her hands, before turning to head back up the stairs. "And I think I have a couple calls I need to make, too."

First, Uly. Then...

Then maybe she needed to make a group text with Team Avatar, and see who answered.
